Weave Your Own Towel 2 Hour Workshop: May 8, 9, OR 10 2026

$115.00

Welcome! Please read the entire description. By purchasing this class you agree to the terms below!

A two hour weaving workshop taught by Hilary Crowell at The Cultivated Thread’s shop in Wiscasset, Maine.

Workshops held on May 8th, 9th, or 10th 2026. Date selection available below.

Looking for something special to do for Mother’s Day? May we suggest a mother-daughter weaving workshop?!

Tuition includes instruction, materials, and postage for returning your finished towel to you.

During each 2 hour workshop, students will gather at TCT’s studio, where Hilary will start off by demonstrating how the loom works. We will go light on technicality because most of your time will be spent on the loom! The looms will be pre-set up with a color pattern, but you will get to choose from a range of colors to be woven into the set up. You can mix and match as your artistic eye guides! Our goal will be for each of you to weave a tea towel.

Students will be given a label to affix to their work. After class, Hilary will take the cloth off the looms, wet finish, hem, and ship each piece back to its weaver.

This workshop is for a range of skill levels and is especially suited to those of you with little to no weaving knowledge. It is great if you have some experience with rigid heddle weaving and want to try a floor loom. One goal of the workshop is to offer you a chance to weave without the financial burden of purchasing a loom or the time burden of dressing one. Our other hope is that this workshop can offer an artistic respite of sorts; a chance for you to get lost in the rhythm of throwing the shuttle for a few hours in the beautiful setting of our farmhouse studio.

Each workshop is 2 hours long and can accommodate 4 weavers. Please select your desired day and time from the drop down menu.

If the date & time you’re interested in is sold out, be sure to add your name to the waitlist, aka “notify me when this product is back in stock”

A note about our studio: You will be weaving in our restored 200 year old timber frame barn, located on the second floor. Styled after the Haystack Mountain School of Craft, our space is not winterized. Please look at the weather before your class and pack a few more layers than you think you need!
