Production studio, shop, and classroom, all under one roof.

Our restored timber frame barn doubles as our shop and teaching space.

Ever since moving our production studio to Wiscasset, I dreamed of turning the adjoining barn space into a shop and teaching space. It needed a lot of work so the idea was a dream for many years while I applied for grant after grant and was rejected over and over.

Finally, in 2024 I was awarded funding.

In the spring of 2025, we tore out lathe and plaster and framing that divided the space into smaller rooms. A skilled team of carpenters installed new floors, added structural framing, built an exterior staircase, and installed new windows. An excavator helped us navigate the ledge we’re perched on to create safe, wide parking for year round use.

The shop was ready. We opened for business in October of 2025.

My hope for the shop is to pull back the curtain for folks to see how their textiles are made in our studio and, if of interest, learn how to do it themselves. I received a second grant to purchase four looms that make up our teaching fleet. I teach different formats of classes in the spring and fall on those looms. They will be available to rent during the winter months.

Please note that our shop is up a flight of stairs. If this presents an accessibility challenge to you please reach out to discuss an arrangement that will meet your needs.

We hope to see you at the shop or in a class soon!
